Girl power rules! - Oct 12 2007 - 481 Views - Mansi
The reticent queen of Bollywood doesn't speak up too often but in the wake of her upcoming release 'Laaga Chunri Mein Daag’, Rani Mukerji tells ENOW's Karishma Upadhyaya, why girl power rules.

Hi Rani, welcome to the show. How do you react to the numero uno tag?

I don't react to it because I don't think it is a thing to be taken too seriously.

What was it about ‘Laaga Chunari Mein’ that made you say yes?

In a country like ours, women are always going through trials in different ways and there are a lot of women whose stories we know through the media, but there are so many whose stories are not covered on television and who go through so many trials. And the constant problem in our society, which is also depicted in our film is that the eldest in the family is bogged down with the responsibility of trying to be the boy or the son and where as we've seen that in our country our president is a women, we have the example of Sunita Williams, we have Pilots we have police - so what is it that a man can do that a woman can't? And the tried and tested phenomenon that every parent will accept is that 'beti beti rehati hai' and ‘beta’ remains a ‘beta’ only till he gets married. So daughters love their parents and look after them till the very end.

What about the music of the film?

I think is great because every song is different and is going with the script. I think only a music director who understands the script can come up with such music.

And which is your favorite track in the film?

Mine would definitely be the title track 'Laaga..’
